We are not just The Fellas’ accountants

We were taken on as accountants in the early days of The Fellas’ climb to viral superstardom, but our role now extends far beyond that. To date, we have assisted with the implementation of the company’s internal finance function. This included providing interim support to bridge the gap and handling all their tax and compliance matters. This extends across the world, in line with their ever-expanding global reach.

Optimising The Fellas’ income and tax planning

Beyond handling the entirety of the team’s tax and compliance matters, our work with The Fellas has also includes advising on potential tax areas (such as overseas talent) and withholding tax considerations.

StarBox has worked closely with  to optimise their income structure and make sure they’re claiming all the relevant tax deductions and incentives. We proactively manage their finances, to help them maintain a strong financial position and continue to grow their wealth over time.

Protecting The Fellas’ interests with professional opportunities

In 2023, The Fellas’ production house received a £1.5 million investment from fellow online creator – and StarBox client – KSI, alongside his fellow Sidemen Simon, Vik, Harry, Josh and Ethan.

Other investors included in the deal were WillNE, ChrisMD and Callux. The Fellas were able to take advantage of our financial planning and investment expertise. Our dynamic forecasting and modelling experience has also come in particularly handy for the team. We revisit this regularly, based on their changing needs and goals.

Diversifying The Fellas’ income streams

In March 2024, The Fellas diversified by launching a subscription service and mobile app, Fellas Loaded.

Airey said the large investments the business received to get these off the ground were "massive vindication of what we set out to do when we launched Fellas Studios back in2021". Hackney added that the investment allows them to "change the landscape even more than we already have [...] we’ve shown that the old podcast format is tired – video is a must, as is creating a brand around the talent and the show”.

StarBox was able to advise on the tax and compliance minefield that comes with a business to consumer video platform and app.

Why The Fellas trust StarBox to be an integral part of their in-house financial team

The service we provide to The Fellas is a complete package that extends in whatever direction they need it to. If they have a business management query of any sort, they know they can come to us. For example, we have enabled the Loaded website to simplify the declaration and payment of VAT for distance sales, with VAT OSS capabilities. We have given advice and assistance on the production, sale and delivery of merchandise, which included import duty considerations. But our remit even extends as far as reviewing pitch decks on their behalf – if they need help, we are there with a solution.
